From what I understand Rheumatic Fever is from a Strep A bacterial infection, not a virus. My son is 5 and he has recently been diagnosed with it. His heart is okay. I am also trying to find out information about it. It was my understanding that it hits people ages 5 - 14, but can reoccur if not taken care of with preventitive antibiotics.
