I was diagnosed with precocious puberty when I was 8 years old. I was getting my period when I was in second grade and had no clue what was happening. I was treated at Yale New Haven Medical Center and was part of a reearh study for Nafralin which I am told is now Lupron. I spent 6 years going to the hospital every 3 months to be checked. I wasn't told of anything except if I wasn't treated I wouldn't be able to have kids. Now I am looking for information onthe long term side effects of this medication and what it does for fertility. I am glad I went through the treatment. It's bad enough going through puberty when you are 13, but how can a child of 5, 6, 7 or even 8 handle all the changes they are going through?
