my son use to have febrile seizures when he was younger, he had 2, one at 13 monthes and again at 18 monthes. we where at the dr. office the first time and they rushed him to the hospital.the second time we were at home and my husband seen it first hand. he put in bathtub and i called 911. both times the cause was an ear infection. he suffered from ear infections constantly on and off til we had tubes put in his ears at the age of 6. the dr. had him on phenobarb until he was 5 then we weined him off. his fever would spike from 99 to 105 in an hour. i panicked every time someone cough near him, afraid that he would get sick and run another fever! but the reason i'm sending you this is i had never heard of febrile seizures until he had his, and yes it is the most terrifying thing i think a parent can witness, but i just wanted to let you know that my son out grew it, he will be 21 years old in a couple of weeks and has been on the deans list every senester in college! i hope this help ease your mind some. i noticed that alot of letters are from people who's childern are still young, just thought i would let you know from an old timer!
