Thanks for responding Brenda. I just started taking Elmiron this past week. I read about it online and it said it could take up to 6 months to see its full effects. However, my urologist tried to talk me out of taking it becuase he says it only has about a 9% effectiveness rate. He wanted me to start with the bladder treatments that are done through a catheter - ouch!, catheters are painful - so I told him I wanted to start with an oral medication and he did give me a prescription for elmiron that I wanted. I don't know anything about the effectivness of antidepressants or any other treatments other than what I have read a little about online - but if the elmiron does not work for you, my doctor seems to swear by the bladder treatments done through a catheter - says they really work - if elmiron does not work for me, that will be my next step.
