Dear Brenda, You are not alone.In response to your questions: I've been taking elmiron for 4 months with out relief.I also tried the DMSO bladder irrigations that gave me alot of relief at first and then seemed to just make things worse.Please buy the book,"You don't have to live with cystitis," by Larrian Gillespie. She has many helpful hints such as ,drink 8 oz water with 1/2 tsp baking soda,8 hours later follow this with 3-4 tums,along with the pyridium pills this really takes the burn out for awhile.I had my urologists prescribe the antidepressant elavil.I take 50mgs at bedtime and this allows me to get some sleep,it also helps with the pain.Coping with these symptoms is so frustrating,it totally changes ones life doesn't it?
