They call what you are having pre-menopause or peri-menopause. It hit me quickly and very hard. I was having hot flashes about every 15 mins. to half hour around the clock. I was constanly taking my shirt off when at home. i got so soaked that after the hot flash I would get cold. Than the whole process would start over. I can not tell you what this did to my mental state. I was not getting much sleep, because the hot flashes would constantly wake me. I would pull my top off in the middle of the night, than put it back on. I finally went to a gynocologist for this, but before going tried soy pills, primrose oil, yam cream and a few more natural things. I did not want to take hormones since my mother had breast cancer, and I recently had to have a biopsy. Thank goodness they did not find cancer, but now I have to have sonagrams every 6 months. The gynocologist I went to specialized in natural ways to deal with menopause and pre-menopause. He put me on some natural hormones that a pharmacy made up specially made up for me. There is much less cancer risk this way. Within 3 days the flashing started to occur less often. It has been several weeks now and the flashing has stopped. I still get warm at times, but nothing like the sweats I had before. I do sleep in layered attire. I put a tank top or light T-shirt under my flannel PJ top, and that way when I get warm I just take off the heavier top. I hope this helps you. Write if you have any questions. By the way the gynocolgist said that in time if the periods don't stop on their own he will do something with the natural hormones that will make the periods stop. My cousin told me she has heard about this at seminars she has been to about menopause. Nikki (please excuse spelling errors)
