ANGIE
VICKIE, NO, IT'S NOT ALL BAD. I'M 32 AND I HAD THE SURGERY IN DEC. OF 98. IT TOOK DOCTORS SEVERAL DAYS TO FIGURE OUT WHAT WAS GOING ON WITH ME. I'VE RESEARCHED THIS ALOT AND IT SEEMS THAT PEOPLE DO WELL AFTER SURGERY. I'VE HAD SOME PROBLEMS BUT I ALSO HAVE HAD 3 SURGERYS IN 11 MONTHS. ALL OF THE SURGERIES WERE NOT RELATED TO THE CHIARI MALFORMATION. I HAD RUPTURED DISCS IN MY NECK AND I HAVE A SYRINX IN MY SPINE. SOME PEOPLE DO HAVE A SYRINX WITH THE CHIARI AND I WAS ONE OF THE UNLUCKY ONES. RIGHT NOW MY LEFT LEG IS NUMB AND WHEN I WALK I DRAG IT. I WILL BE GOING TO MUSC TO SEE THE PROFESSOR OF NEUROLOGY. HOPEFULLY HE CAN GIVE US SOME GOOD NEWS AS TO HOW TO GET RID OF THE NUMBNESS IN MY LEG. THE SURGERY ITSELF WAS NOT BAD FOR ME. THERE WAS NO BRAIN DAMAGE. I WISH YOUR NEICE THE BEST.
