Hello, My name is Keyt, and I have had Hydro and a shunt for 30-some years. Previous posts were right when they said it's often hard to tell when shunt malfunction was ocurring. Besides sleeping all the time and loss of apetite, other symptoms can include eye problems, slurred speach, confusion, lack of memory, and at the worst stages, loss of all senses...seeing, hearing, feeling, etc. Vomiting and severe dizziness are also part of it. However, I can tell you that sometimes there are no signs at all! Shunt malfunction is a very weird thing, but chances are you will know right off the bat if something is wrong! Good luck!! Keyt
