Hi, everyone. Thanks for sharing your experiences. My head smashed the windshield in a car accident. Hit a truck broadside in '86. Nuero diaganosed fibro after flunking phyical and written testing. I didn't pay much attention until '96. I could no longer sleep. Tried many antidepressants without success. Just recently 4 new ones became available. I see a teaching doctor. He's an internist. His theory is that there is a lack of serotonin or defficiency. He gave me 30mg of REMERON I take at nite. Also he gave me the newly formulated EFFEXOR @ 75mg, but it's in a capsule time released form. Within 2 months I began sleeping through the nite and my dreams are back. Then the arthritis pain came. He gave me VIOXX @ 25mg. I still felt the pain. I then tried the Celabrex 3, 100 mg taken in the morning. I found the best results taking 1 25mg and 1 12.5mg for a total of 37.5 mgs. I heard Michael Fox say that Parkinson's was thought to be a chemical defficiency in the brain, too. 20-20 has featured FM twice within 2 months, the second show was because there has been a "breakthrough". A couple of neuro's have been doing traditional neuro surgery to unblock the canal in the spinal cord. The request an MRI. I had one done and before I left my doctor, he said to be prepared for it to be normal. It came back with moderate blockage in the cervix along with disc bulges. Do you guys notice that Glucosamine Chondroitan, COQ10, HTTP, SAMe are displayed in every pharmacy. Merck online says these are old standby medications for FM. Merck also recommends trying Celabrex and VIOXX. I believe that you have found the best medicine if it works without side effects. I have a friend who is a nurse and she said they are seeing an epidemic of MS. Merck said that the Celabrex & VIOXX are the latest pain killers, they refer to them as COX2 inhibitors. Another doctor of mine that I saw for a second opinion told me that FM strikes the hips/thighs more than any other part of the body. My MRI damage correlated to the hips/thighs. I believe with the help of 20-20, and these vitamin supplements, someone knows something and research is being done. I can't say enough about the medications I'm taking, there's no dry mouth, constipation, nore funny/strange feeling. I'm very grateful for continuous research and we can't let up on the doctors. This may not be terminal, but disabilitating to say the least.
