I have a 15 yr. old son who has gone thru this ventriculostomy procedure, when he was 13. He is doing very well, and I am pleased to say he is an honor student, plays sports, and is in band at school. We were given a prognoise of not great hope but I also have a 23 year old daughter with Hydrocephalus who was shunted and she is now working as a nurse in the Hospital she had 7 su rgeries. Both sergeries have made a difference, however Ventriculostomy has better recovery time and also doesn't leave a shunt that requires monitoring.
