I have had Bell's Palsy twice. The first time I had it I went to the doctor and he refered me to a neurologist who told me that once you get Bell's Palsy you will never get it again. He also told me that it could last anywhere from three weeks to permently. I had Bell's Palsy this last April and still to the present day have some facial paralyzation-- I have to drink from a straw alot of the time to help control drinking. The second time I did not have health insurance and was not able to get help. The first time the physican gave me steroids which was supposed to bring the blood flow back to my face and it worked. I was put on a strict schedule and after 3 weeks the Palsy was gone. From what reading I have been able to do I have found out that Bell's Palsy is a disease of the nerve system and is associated with possible tumors of the brain. Much is unknown about Bell's Palsy. I find that it is helpful to massage the afflicted side of the face. As to whether I will get it again--who knows? I have recovered most of my facial muscle activity. The first time the palsy was on the right side of my face and the second time it occurred on the left side. Perhaps, it won't ever occur again...at least I hope not. I hope this helps. I am always looking for any new information regarding this illness and will appreciation any new information you can give me also. diana
