Hi. I wonder if there could be a relationship between these two--Chicken pox being a type of herpes virus--not the sexual kind, but like shingles. I have Rheumatoid arthritis--an autoimmune disease and I understand that when your immune system goes haywire it can start working on your intrinsic factor which means you will no be able to absorb b-12 though the normal route (intestinally). A doctor told me that when my immune system went overactive, besides attacking my soft tissues and joints, etc., it probably also systematically destroyed my intrinsic factor. She said you can tell something like this is going on when your tests show that you have normal values of folic acid, but extremely low B-12. I really am not sure how this would relate to chicken pox, but it just might, and perhaps this would give you enough information to discuss it further with your doctors or research more fully. Anyway, I wish you much luck! Paula
