Being 86 myself and having a bit of scoliosis, I have had x-rays & have seen some othopaedic doctors but Physical Therapy is VERY helpful, plus heat. When it is very painful..I use a Bed Buddy..a sac-like knitted thing full of rice which one puts into the Micro Wave for 2 mins.and it fits ANYWHERE on the body and keeps the heat for some time..far better than a heating pad.
