I am also scheduled to have this surgery. Been diagnosed with CREST since 1986. Lost two fingers and a third is trying hard to leave me. The esophagus and now a concern as I also have been waking up nightly with acid reflux. Had a esophageal motility test done this week. No motility in esophagus at all. Test reader advised against this surgery because if the surgeon makes it lining too tight, the food wont have anywhere to go, and if he leaves it too loose, it will still have my problems. I'll see what the surgeon says after he reads the lab xray. On the other hand, the acid we bring up at night is meant to stay in the stomach, where the lining is tough enough to withstand the acid. Having it in your throat will cause more damage.
