I'm sure the depression can be present due to many reasons. It can also be the prednisone. I have crohn's disease and several yrs ago was on as high as 240 mgm/day. The emmotional "roller coaster" from the pred. is awful. The drug does a great job but the side effects can be a real pain. From my own experience, it does help to have much support when dealing with this roller coaster. Good Luck - Hang in there.
