I was diagnosed with graves disease (hyperthyroidism) in 1995 I was on tapizol for 2 years. I had 2 thyroid storms during that period (that is where your thyroid level gets so high it throws you into a thyroid induced coma), I couldn't work, because I had migraine headaches 2 to 3 times a week. I went from weighing 150lbs to weighing 95lbs. I was a nervous reck. Needless to say after 2 years of that I decided to have the radioactive Iodine treatment. I am now on Synthroid for the rest of my life, because now I have Hypothyroidism. My treatment worked too good because now my thyroid does not produce ANY hormone at all. So I have been on another rocky battle trying to get my synthroid doses just right. I now weight 208lbs keeping weight off is a real struggle. and it is mostly water weight because I have to now take water pills or my ankles will blow up like balloons. I am glad I had the radioactive thyroid treatment, because at least I don't have the headaches anymore, and I can work. I just wish I could be normal again and that's just not gonna happen.
