Sinus FUNGUS Infections

Roxanne

Message 7 of 19 Previous Next

As a background, I have had 4 sinus surgeries, the first three at this point seeming useless because it was discovered I had a total blockage in my frontal sinus, thereby creating a third frontal cavity in the middle with no way for the outer two to drain. That being resolved, I still have some problems...my doctor saying I have bacterial/fungal infections. There are medications to take for both..... antibiotics for bacteria and antifungal (not so easy or pleasant for fungi) ... and you can't take them at the same time. However, I have found some relief by doing nasal irrigation when I first notice problems with a mixture of salt/white vinegar/water. The exact mixture of these things will vary by as much as you personally can handle, but bacteria cannot live in a salt-rich environment and fungi can't live in whatever is in vinegar, so if you can make it strong enough to run the little "rascals" out of there, you can do it without taking all the pills (which is something I personally want to do). As a starting point for the mixture, you can try this: 3/4 tsp salt and 1/2 tsp vinegar and 16 oz water. I mix this in a clean container, then use a nasal irrigation cup that I bought from an Allergy Supply Catalog. However, I have ordered an irrigator tip for a WaterPik and am going to try that instead when it comes. Also helpful to me is that I've started taking grapefruit seed extract in my morning orange juice, along with a Wellness Formula supplement from a local health food store. Hope this helps.
