Sara, I had swelling in my feet and ankles which is what led me to find out recently that I have Ankylosing Spondylitis. The NSAID Vioxx has helped a lot with the pain and swelling. It has also helped to wear graduated compression stockings. At first I needed medium compression, but since I started taking the Vioxx, mild compression works. Jobst is the company that makes the ones I wear; and I get them from a medical center pharmacy. Another thing that has helped me is a footstool that can be adjusted to different angles or to move up and down. It is like a rocking chair for your feet. I sit at a desk most of the day and the rocking stool helps keep my circulation going. Also of help is the office chair I got with a "waterfall seat". It is designed with a slope in the seat that reduces the pressure on your thighs. It also has a lumbar support which helps my back pain. Short frequent walks also are very beneficial. If you want any info about any of these things or if you've found other things that help, please Email me at kiteisher@aol.com
