My wife,then 73 yrs old, was tested & diagnosed with obstructive sleep apnoea & recommended that she use a CPAP machine. Initially she had a lot of difficulty tolerating the headgear until we realised the need for added humidity in the air in the summer & in the winter both humidity & warmer air are required for patient comfort. After some expenditure and a lot of experimentation we now have a set-up in which the CPAP machine delivers mildly warm humidified air under pressure to the patient. Another problem early in the piece was due to the prescribed air pressure. It was too high for comfort but when reduced a bit this effectively solved the problem. She usually gets 6/7 hours each night and looks & feels a great deal better than she used to. I don't know your circumstances but I'm sure that if you intelligently persist you'll find the machine will help you. I really cannot agree with your opinion of the Drs' attitude. Sometimes it is very difficult to come up with the right answer in every case. By the way, I am not a Doctor. Good luck.
