I have a medullar sponge kidney and cronic kidney stones also. Have had kidney stones for 22 years. From what I was told a medullar sponge kidney generally doesn't pose a significant health risk for about 20 years. Have had mine for about 5 years. Worse case scenerio is kidney will have to be removed, but was told it only happens in about 1% of cases.
