I just joined the ranks of people with an abdomial aneurysm. Out of the blue. Have had a hernia for 4 or 5 years and my back started bugging me. Was sent in to have Ultrasound scan; they found my abdominal aorta had increased to 3cm. Very small compared to other msgs here. Doctor said will try medication for 6 months, if it doesn't go back to normal will operate. I don't believe there is much to fear with competent surgeons. My daughter is in training to be a RN; according to her books there is very little to fear from abdominal aorta surgery. (I think (but don't know) it would be different if it was thoracic.)
