Any physical therapist should know the treatment for RSD,do you have a pediatric neurologist involved or an orthopedic surgeon involved they should know where to send you to PT. How long has your daughter had RSD? Has she had any care from a doctor for this condition? Depending on the stage of the RSD she may not be able to tolerate the PT because in this situtation time counts and do not let anybody tell you does not. The longer you wait for treatment the harder it is to clear it up. Take it from an expert me myself who had this problem 15 yrs was lucky my dr was able to clear it up with PT I had developed this problem after having reconstructive surgery on my ankle and I had really no idea what this was I was dealing with and back then then there was not alot of information available. The RSD then went into remission and then just this past January I became an amputee and lost my right leg and I was getting out of my mom's car and step in a rut with my left foot and my ankle that was fixed 15 yrs is now injured again and at first the dr's misdiagnosed me because RSD mimmicks other injuries. I myself knew I had it because from before I could not have any rough materials near it like bed sheets and socks bothered it terribly. I can understand so much how you are worried about your 6 yr and I must say that is a young age. She does not have to suffer like that there is no reason for it. Are you located near a city hospital? Or a childrens"s hospital because there someone by right should no something as to the type of PT your 6yr should be having. Most times the way PT works is. One they use a whirlpool bath and then some type of cold treatment I had it and that helped me 15 yrs ago. Or something called contract baths where they use heat and cold.
