I had tiny blisters that itched like crazy on my lower legs and arms. A biopsy diagnosed my lichen planus. If you want to be certain, ask for a biopsy for your granddaughter. The bad news is that the treatments seem to be fairly ineffective.. the outbreaks last for months, and the disease has no cure. If I'm wrong about this, then I hope someone will will read and post a correction. My lichen also included the oral outbreak. The second outbreak (6 years after the first) appeard on the soles of my feet, arms and again on my legs. The striking difference was that the blisters were hugh, and quickly filled up with watery blood fluids, and the only relief was to remove the skin over the blister... very painful. I am currently in my third outbreak and because of the treatments being both weekly, expensive and essentially non effective (the symptoms disappear on their own as slowly with medication as they do without any at all) I'm just riding it through. I am also interested in finding out any updates on causes, treatments etc. good luck to you with your search for answers. Barbara
