I gave birth 21 months ago to my first child and no fibroids were detected (before or after his birth). Last week I went to my GYN for my annual exam and he told me that he found one fibroid. Two days later I went to have an ultrasound and the doctor found that I have several fibroids. I will have surgery in two weeks to have them removed (this is scary). My doctor says that if I plan on having more children I need to have the fibroids removed right away. He says that right now the fibroids are very small, but the longer I wait to have them removed the larger they will become. He says there is no guarantee that the fibroids will not return and eventually I will have to have a hysterectomy. I do want more children but I wanted to wait until my son was at least 4 or 5 years old. Now I find that there is a chance that the firboids will return before I am ready to have a another child. I am 28 years old.
