                        I had trigeminal neuralgia since 1992.  At first doctors prescribed tegretol, and that helped for a while.  When I had to take more than the maximum dosage, I finally got into the Mayo Clinic.  They tried the least invasive treatment first--the Gamma Knife--but that did not work.  Next they tried glycerol injections and they worked.  I had trigeminal neuralgia on both sides with involvement of all three branches of the nerve on each side, so mine was difficult to treat.  But I would recommend the Mayo Clinic.
