What you are experiencing may not be Raynaulds. I moved to TX from PA in 1990, did not have a problem with the different climate. In 94' moved back to PA/MD area for 1 yr., did not have a problem. But when I returned to TX 12/95, after 2 months I was out in 30 degree weather for no more than 5 minutes and when I entered the house my face, neck, nose turned beet red, and had some hives. On one occasion I touched a metal knob on a clothes dryer that was out in a utility room not attached to the house and my hand swelled up and I was rushed to the DR. They gave me meds that sedated me, but cured the swelling. Off and on for over a year I had to watch being out in the cold, or chilly weather. My hands would get splotchy red areas and itch. If I ate ice cream my lips would tingle and itch. I finally got to a DR who said I was having "hives" and put me on Claritan...this solved my problem and today I do not have the problem and are not on meds for it. After a few weeks some people's body may get use to Claritan and a person may have to go off of it for a few days then re-start taking it. But evidently it cured my problem. I thank God every day. It was not fun. I should mention at one point I had a couple of bouts where my insides, chest area, would feel like it was just being violently shaken, this scared the heck out of me! I would just close my eyes, lay down and try to keep calm, after a few minutes it stopped (this was before the hives diagnosis and starting Claritan). Come to find out, we suspect that it was the water I was ingesting from a bad well. We had been smelling rotton eggs type of smell and that suggests a type of gas poisoning. I saw many doctors, including allergists, but it simply went away with Claritan. I will pray for your recovery.
