My son is 21 yr. old. He has had a fever, up to 103. His lymph nodes are very hard and enlarged. There is a swelling between in jaw and ear on one side. Could this be the mumps? He says the swelling is not painful. I am concerned, also, for his wife and baby. She may be only 2-4 weeks pregnant. I am waiting to be a ble to contact the dr., hoping she will see him right away. How do they know if it is or is not mumps as opposed to it being something else?
