I was diagnosed with Ankylosing Spondylitis six years ago. I had it real bad in my upper back. The first year I had it, was so painful I Could not even sleep in a bed. I spent six months sleeping upright in a Lazyboy chair. The chair relieved the pain enough for me to sleep. I now live totally pain free, but have to maintain certain habits in order to keep it that way. I was on high doses of Nopoxin Sodium and in Physical Therapy for four months. Those two things got my back loose enough so that the pain was greatly reduced. I now do stretching exercises three times a week (pain Free just a little stiffness), this keeps my back moving free and pain free. If I stop strething I can start to feel the pain and stiffness building again. I take one small dose of Noproxin sodium a night. I have also noticed that my Ankylosing Spondylitis acts up after eating certain foods. The foods that effect me are milk, eggs, and cheeze. I do eat all of these things but I keep it in moderation. Any time I eat a few meals in a row of these items I get a flair up in my back. I am wondering if intestinal problems are related to this desease? I started having problems in that area when I first started getting the symptoms of Ankylosing spondylitis. I live a normal life of tennis, biking skiing and many other activities now. Keeping active and exercising has been the key to keeping myself this way. When I allow myself to be sedentary because of the pain things got worse for me.
