Dilantin is an immune supressive drug which accounts for your rash and fever. But far more serious problems have been found dating back to studies in the 1960's. Dilantin can cause swollen glands known as pseudolymphomas. They resemble cancer but are reversed when the drug is stopped. However, these 'fake' cancers can develop into full blown hodgkins and non-hodgkins lymphoma disease which are often fatal. I know this because I have non-hodgkins lymphoma and have taken dilantin for over 30 years. As soon as my blood values changed I should have been taken off that drug but I wasn't. I'm being treated now for a third recurrance. Be informed! Ask questions before taking any drug that can compromise your immune system!
