The barrier cream that I use is by Revlon named "Dry Skin Relief Moisture Lotion." I use it regularly after a shower for several days if I feel the slightest itch coming on. When I experienced severe itching problems a couple of years ago, I too thought the problem was allergies, but after a period of time came to realize that dry skin and rubbing too hard was the problem. It is very important not to rub the skin with a towel after a shower. Pat the skin dry, or use a hair dryer. Hope this helps.
