I firmly stand on getting the adnoids checked. As a child I had problems breathing. I couldn't drink through a straw because I couldn't breathe through my nose. I also had dry cracked lips because I constantly breathed heavy through my mouth. I do have allergies but they were intensified because of my adnoid problem. My son when he was 2 years old had his taken out because from the day he was born he constantly had trouble with breathing and ear infections. He also woke up in the middle of the night because he would stop breathing. The ENT doctor told me that the swollen adnoids prevented proper drainage. After his surgery he started breathing wonderfully. He even started eating better and gaining weight. My allergies got better when mine were removed. I still have allergies but I know if I was still plaqued with an adnoid problem they would be a lot worse. I know surgery sounds scary but if this is what the doctor feels is wrong I would trust his judgement and believe me your child will not know what to think when he will be able to breathe normally. I will keep you and your child in my prayers.
