                        I have been dianosis with COPD/BRONCHIECTASIS after I had a PFT and CT scan.  My doctor said that this could have been caused by   heavy coughing. I explained that I lived and worked   on a ship for over 3 years being exposed daily to asbestoes and one night I woke up   after the asbestoes insulation on a steam pipe fell  into my bunk and I had it down my throat  in my eyes and I though that I would choke to death.  I coughed for weeks and coughed up some blood and   brown stuff. For about two years I would somedays have  coughing spasms. This stopped but about 35 years later   I started having breathing problems.   My doctor says that this might have been caused by the   caused by asbestoes but  she can't say for sure.  I have had two other doctors look at the scans and they say  that they can't say that asbestoes caused my problems.  Why can't they tell? I need all available Information.   Also why does the  head pulmonary Doctor at OKC VA say that asbestoes  can't cause COPD? Thank You!
