Hi, I know of at least 2 friends that have had knee replacements done. Both are over 70 years and in fairly good health. One of them Don had his first one done several years ago useing the begining style of knee materials and expected to be good for about 10 years or so,his second one was just done about 2 months ago and should be good for 15 or more years depending on exercize and not too much abuse on his limbs. The other friend Pat just had his first done about 1 1/2 months ago, with his second coming up at the end of this month. Both friends said the first days after, the knee areas were tender, this of course is normal. The Physical Therapists and doctors should have you up do lightly working exercizes on those knees, within a day or so after surgery and when you get home, continue to do those exercizes.(You must do these exercises very important.) Of course the knee areas are going to be tender and the musles around them need to be gotten stronger to support them better. A little story about a family friend who got one of his hips replaced several years ago. He had the greatly needed surgery done. The Physical Therapists tried working with him but,he said I want to get out of here and get home I'll do those exercizes at home...He rarily did.... he thought he knew better then the doctors. ..BULL HEADED DUMMY! His doctors said his knew hip was put in just fine and exercizes should bring him around just fine. Well he did have rough time after because he wouldn't do his exercizes. So please do the exercizes and continue to do them way after you get home--it may not be a whole lot of fun but you will appreciate your knew knees and your life alot more. I hope good good Luck and God Speed Ron
