my 15 year old daughter had a t&a last august, just a week before school started. although the md told us she would be in pain, we never anticipated the challenges post op. simply breathing in and then out hurt her throat. she lay on the couch for a full 8 days. my only concern was hydration so i forced cold or frozen drinks. after losing 10 pounds, she suddenly woke up on day 9 post op and said she was hungry. she then slowly recovered and progressed from liquids to soft to solid foods. i have to say she was weak for about 2 weeks after that. however, there is hope, and your little one will be fine soon. good luck!!
