                        This is in answer to Lucy.  My computer wouldn't let me answer directly.  I have read that just replacing the amalgams doesn't do the trick. The mercury that has already gotten into your system has to be gotten out.  It's a procedure that can take up to a year, in some cases four.  The first step is, of course to get the amalgams out, but it is only the first step.  Hope this helps.
