I too have a thyroid problem found after I had surgery on my tonsil but I had also had a backward fall causing a whiplash. I remember reading somewhere on the internet that some of the causes of thyroid problems besides being inherited reasons are whiplash, surgery, trauma and/ or stress. A large number of people who have had whiplash,seem to develop thyroid problems. I have not been able to find the place where I read that as I failed to mark it. I wish I could find it again. I believe that there is something to the theory but doctors don't seem to buy into anything unless it is what they have been taught. I think, however, that was from a doctor treating with alternative methods who was stating his findings. If you can find anything about it, I would love to hear the details.
