Eileen, R.N.
As a Registered Nurse, I also have high cholesterol, blood pressure along with other medical, surgical problems. My Husband hates anything that's low fat foods. My resulting technique is to purchase low fat foods (check your labels first). While cooking your low fat foods etc., you can always add more spices to give the foods etc. more flavor which makes the foods more palatible for you & whomever. Keep in mind it's okay to cheat once in awhile. Blood Cholesterol should always be normally below 200; above 200 is abnormal. There are medications utilized as needed. My M.D. after 5 years put me on Pravachol 1 Tab. at bedtime for carefully attempting to lower my cholesterol by my dietary intake wasn't sufficient. While continuing to watch my dietary intake with the addition of the medication Pravachol, it has worked wonders for me which has allowed me to cheat occasionally on my dietary intake. If you have any further questions or concerns, you may email me back. GOOD LUCK.
