After 3 known blood clots, 2 of which moved to lungs as pulmonary emboli, have been put on coumadin for indefinite period (could be for life)... also had an umbrella filter inserted in vena cava. Still have some shortness of breath, leg pain and swelling, thought to be leftover from the thrombophlebitis, could possibly be small clots moving around as well. My care is managed by my pulmonologist and by my rheumatologist as well as an anti-coagulation pharmacist at a local university medical center. Good luck.
