Hey, I'm 20 and just had my tonsils taken out. My throat had been a mess also, but not to the extremity of yours. Don't worry. I was terrified to have surgery, but it was actually kind of fun. They might give you an anxiety reducer, which is way fun and you won't even notice when you go to sleep. When I woke up I was super thirsty and spit up blood, but I was so out of it still I barely remember. My advice for you when you get home is to keep liquids down all that you can. Broth was good for me. One day my throat hurt so bad that I wouldn't even swallow my own spit and ended up back in the hospital in the ER at 3:30am due to intense pain and dehydration, so definately keep the fluids down and you'll be doing much better. You'll be good. And after you've recovered you'll feel so much better you'll have never regretted it. Trust the doctors and nurses to take care of you and you'll be fine! Good Luck!
