Hi Jeanne... Just wanted to add a little to your message. I was diagnosed with PMR in March of 2001...I am just now able to get my Prednisone dose down to 1 mg. a day and will soon try to get off the poison once and for all. Like you, I tried numerous times to decrease the doseage and had multiple flareups as a consequence. I just about had given up on ever getting off of it. There is some light at the end of the tunnel..... I am 60 and had forgotten that I did have body aches and pains before going on the Pred....so don't think that all will be smooth sailing once you get off of the stuff.....think the Pred. has added to some previous problems...like arthritis...but it is one day at a time. Every time I get depressed with the PMR...I think back three years when I couldn't even go to work because of the pain, weakness, fatigue...it was a nightmare. I wish you all the luck in the world....getting off of the Pred. and staying off! My last sed rate was 8 and the CRP was down to 10.....at diagnosis the sed rate was over 90 and the CRP was 230!!
