I am 40 years old. For a good portion of the past 7 years, I have been dealing with sore throats and tonsil misery. I almost had a tonsilectomy about 4 years ago but it was denied by my insurance. Now, I am sitting here with tonsils swollen, missed work (I am a 6th grade teacher) and I now know I must build my case once again for my insurance to cover this procedure. I am hitting the urgent care clinic each and every time I feel sick, just so I can document the severity. I am pretty sure I can prove that I am viable candidate for removal...however... now that I have read all these posts-- YIKES! I suspect that I am reading my fate. Not sure when this will happen. Probably NEXT summer, when I am off from teaching. It sure sounds like I will need to have more than a fast two weeks off for recovery, am I right?
