Hi, I was diagnosed in '93 with a psuedo tumor cerebri. I had a lumbar peritoneal shunt put in when I was 6 months pregnant with my daughter. It was revised two other times. I still had alot of pain in my head and drastic visual problems. I was very much treated like a pain pill junkie and to this day I still am. In '97 I overdosed due to the headpains I was having. I woke to them I went to sleep with them. Pain medicine just clouded the pain. In '97 I was sent to a nuerosurgeon in Indianapolis,Indiana whos name was Dr. DeNero and I was diagnosed with an Arteriovenous Malformation. It is rare, and 3 in 10,000 have it. You are born with it but it is not hereditary. It is not detected by CT scan but it can be seen with MRI or angiogram. Bearing children made mine larger. It is now two-thirds the left side of my brain. It can hemmorage at any given moment. I have had 6 brain embolizations and a Gamma Knife Radiation procedure. I have a MRI every 6 months for the next 3 years to check progress. Which gamma knife is usually 60 to 90 percent good out come. If you need anything that you think I can help you with just e-mail me and I will respond as soon as I can. sali
