My son, who is now 9 has ambliopia in one eye, and patching was unsuccessful with him also. What we ended up doing is dilating his better eye daily over a period of time, which forced the crossing eye to work harder, yet he could still see somewhat out of the dilated one. I realize your situation is complicated by having both eyes involved. My concern in you waiting for the surgery is the possibiity that your child's eyes would be further weakened, and also delays in learning. God bless you, and your little one.
