Carol You are very young to have to have pancreatic cancer. Most are grandparents who are cared by spouse and children. One way to be together is to help the scared patients and caregeivers with advise. If you had resectable cancer, was your portal vein also resected. My very active and otherwise healthy father was operated with exploratory surgury at a good hospital that was not a referal center and was ruled non-resectable because of portal vein tumor invasion. We are now waiting for recovery and base line info and evidence of tumor growth rate(per the oncologist) before decisions about entering a chemoradiation trial with latest generation of compounds related to gemcitabine. Eg. Did you use a cancer center with contrast enhanced Helical CT scans, neadjuvent chemo-radiation at major cancer center. Did you get negative margins in post biopsy. Is your follow up treatment satisfactory. Are you on 5Fu/gemcitabine- based chemoradiation treatment or a new trial and how is it affecting your quality of life?
