My grandfather has Emphysema. He was also just diagnosed with Lung Cancer. He is concerned about taking the radiation. He is convinced that the doctors are lieing to him about the cancer because they used a NEW machine to have it detected. (He was on the news here in Indianapolis and everything for being the first person in Indiana to take this detection test). What the doctors are telling him is that he needs 35 treatments of radiation for these small tumors in his lungs. He says the emphysema will kill him before the cancer, so he doesn't want to do the Raditation because the doctor has told him that there is a large chance that after the treatment he will have to be on Oxygen because it damages so much of the lung tissue. Can emphysema actually cause someone death? That is my question. And has anyone heard of this new "Neotech" testing that I am refering to? They made him drink this nuclear substance before taking this special type of Xray of his lungs... the cancer shows up even when VERY small.. smaller than a CAT scan or MRI would show. Help! Heather
