There is a wonderful home remedy that I finally discovered after battling with lice on my small daughter's head on and off for over a year! We too, had tried Nix, and many other brands of lice treatments. Each time, we thought we had it licked, and back they came! Here's the remedy that finally worked: Soak the hair with mineral oil (can buy a big bottle at the drugstore for a couple of dollars). Comb it through with a lice comb, wiping on a paper towel after each swipe. Following this, let the mineral oil sit on the head for ten minutes (I covered my daughter's head with a shower cap so it wouldn't drip). Then wash out. This is the worst part. It requires a lot of shampooing rinsing and re-shampooing to get all the oil out! Very important: Repeat this every other day for 10 days. This will kill any new lice that hatch. It's a pain, but well worth it, and cheaper and safer than the chemicals. By the way, I didn't kill myself with vacuuming or laundering either. Good luck!
