I have GBS for over 20 yrs. It took a very long time for diagnosis (so many same symptoms).I live in Central Calif. was in Sansum Clinic in Santa Barbara also UCLA (Los Angeles). I am doing quite well live alone. One Dr told me there was a outbreak of GBS after the 1977 Swine Flu Shots. How many opinions did your mother have? It doesn't sound like GBS to me in fact I was told many make a complete recovery. I was going from Dr to Dr here and each time a new diagnois until I went to Sansum & UCLA. I know it can be very frustrating my 1st symptoms were my balance. The EMG plus nerve biopsy & muscle biopsy will give a clue if a genetic disorder as many does't appear until we are older. Is there any others in your family who has similar disorder.The Dr's at UCLA give me a ancestor chart to check out family diseases well I became addicted but it saved my sanity or no doubt would have been climbing walls.
