I read the request for information on this problem. I am not a medical provider, however, I was reminded of a situation that happened to my mother many years ago. I had taken her to numerous doctors (including neurologists) because although she had olfactory problems since childhood,she had no sense of smell), she suddenly began to have problems with "bad odor" emanating from everything! She could only describe the odor as what she imagined bad meat smelled like. Anyway, I finally took her to an MD friend of mine because she was having nervousness-related problems. During the history part of the exam, I happened to mention to him that she had this problem with smell. He immediately said it was probably a seizure disorder. He called it Left Frontal Lobe Epilepsy. Well, long story short, she had an EEG and other tests and it was confirmed. Not sure if this will help you (since you have already been to neurologists), but who knows. Good luck! (BTW..seizure medications relieved her symptoms and the "nervousness"!)
