You mentioned that you were recently diagnosed with a thyroid problem. Did the doctor who made the diagnosis put you on any medication at that time? If he/she did, did your problem begin before or after the medication. If you are on some new medication, it could be the medication, or it could even be the way the medication is interacting with an old medication that you were taking for a long time. Some medications can even interact with daily vitamins to cause similar problems. I was on Oral Morphine for quite some time for a rare disease which causes terrible pain, and the oral morphine caused my mouth to always taste like metal. I did not get any of the smells, although they can happen, but everything tasted the same, and it was not a good taste. I stopped eating completely. They finally had to take me off of the morphine and put me on some kind of pain patch. I would look into that aspect of your problem. Hope you get better, and hope this helps. Carol
