I am 50 yrs old and had a radical prostactemy 4/99 after a PSA of 26.0 after surgery my PSA was 0 - 4 months later it was .2 and after another 4 months I was .4 and my urologist advised seeing a radiation oncologist for treatment. I am starting radiation treatment shortly, making this decision due to several facts. PSA, I believe, is a good test. It found the cancer to start with, so why should I not believe it now. With the elevation, I have to believe that there is something still there. At my age, I want to be aggressive with this cancer, so I dont need to sit back and wait for the cancer to grow, when we have a chance for a cure. Please feel free to let me know your opinions for or against. A saying from the Oncologist seems to hit home the best when he said "DON'T GET CUTE WITH CANCER".
